Bharat Dynamics shares rise 2% as defence firm bags ₹2,462 crore order from Indian Army; all you need to know

Bharat Dynamics shares surged 2% to an intraday high of ₹1,560 apiece on Tuesday, December 2, as the defence firm bagged a major order from the Indian Army.

The state-owned firm secured additional orders worth ₹2,461.62 crore since the last disclosure on November 13, 2025. “Major orders received include ATGMs and SAM (Emergency Procurement),” Bharat Dynamics said in a regulatory filing.

The company added that the ATGM project will be executed over 42 months, while the SAM project will be completed within 12 months.

At 10:50 AM, shares of Bharat Dynamics were trading at ₹1,544.40 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, rising 0.92%.

Over the last five trading days, shares of the company have gained over 4.3%. For a six-month period, it has declined 22%. From the beginning of the year, BDL shares have zoomed more than 36%.

The defence company’s market capitalisation stands at ₹56,604.58 crore.

Shares of the firm had touched their one-year high of ₹2,096.60 apiece on May 30, 2025, while their 52-week low of ₹907 was hit on March 3, 2025.

Bharat Dynamics Q2 earnings

Bharat Dynamics reported a 76.19% year-on-year (YoY) surge in its net profit to ₹216 crore for the second quarter of the 2025-26 financial year (Q2FY26). In the corresponding period a year earlier, it had clocked a profit of ₹122.53 crore.

Sequentially, it marked a steep jump in profit, which was at ₹18 crore in the first quarter of the current FY26.

The defence PSU’s revenue from operations increased a little over two-fold annually to ₹1,147 crore during the quarter under review, compared to ₹545 crore in the September quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year (Q2FY25). In the quarter-ago period, its revenue was at ₹247.93 crore.

Its EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation), also known as operating profit, stood at ₹188 crore in the second quarter of FY26, marking a 90% YoY growth from ₹99 crore in the year-ago period.

The PSU’s EBITDA margin contracted by approximately 10 basis points (bps) YoY to 16.35% during the reporting quarter, in contrast to 18.14% in Q2FY25.
