Bandhan Bank reports strong June quarter business update; check details

Bandhan Bank Ltd shares gained nearly 2% on Thursday, July 4, to an intraday high of ₹214.6 per piece on the NSE after the lender reported strong growth in total deposits for the quarter ending on June 30, 2024.

The private bank reported a healthy 22.8% jump in total deposits at ₹1,33,203 crore on a year-on-year (YoY) basis in the June quarter (Q1FY25). The lender’s total deposits stood at ₹1,08,480 crore in the same quarter last year.

However, the bank’s total deposits marginally dropped by 1.5% quarter-on-quarter from Q4FY24, when the figure stood at ₹1,35,202 crore.

The bank’s loans and advances witnessed a 21.8% YoY increase in the April to June 2024 period at ₹1,25,619 crore compared to ₹1,03,169 crore in the year-ago period. Sequentially, advances were up 0.7% on ₹1,24,721 crore in the previous quarter.

Bandhan Bank’s Current Account Saving Account (CASA) deposits rose almost 14% to ₹44,453 crore in the June quarter as compared to ₹39,077 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

However, the figure declined 11.4% on a sequential basis.

The bank’s bulk deposits also showed a strong 31.6% YoY uptick in the first quarter of the current financial year, at approximately ₹41,099 crore as opposed to ₹31,240 crore in Q1FY24.

The Kolkata-headquartered lender’s CASA ratio, on the other hand, dropped to 33.4% in Q1FY25 from 36% in the year-ago period, and from 37.1% in the March-ended quarter.

As of June 30, 2024, the bank's liquidity coverage ratio (LCR) was approximately 149.5%.

At 1:55 p.m., Bandhan Bank shares were trading 1.68% lower at ₹207.59 per piece on the NSE.
