Bajaj Auto announced on Wednesday the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Bajaj Do Brasil Comercio De Motocicletas has commenced commercial production at its new manufacturing plant located in Av. do Turismo, Bairro Tarumã, Manaus, Brazil.

The company reported that the plant has a production capacity of 20,000 units per year in a single shift. The plant is equipped with engine and vehicle assembly as well as testing facilities.

Earlier, Bajaj Auto announced its total sales for the month of May 2024 remained flat on a year-on-year (YoY) basis at 3,55,323 units. The sales of two-wheelers declined by 1% YoY to 3,05,482 units while the sales of commercial vehicles grew by 5% YoY to 49,841 units in May 2024.

During the month, domestic sales of two-wheelers declined by 3% YoY to 1,88,340 units while exports grew by 4% YoY to 1,17,142 units. The domestic sales of commercial vehicles saw a growth of 9% YoY to 36,747 units while exports declined by 6% YoY to 13,094 units. The total domestic sales of the company declined by 1% YoY to 2,25,087 units while exports grew by 3% YoY to 1,30,236 units.

During the first two months of the current financial year, the company has witnessed an 8% YoY growth in its total sales to 7,43,579 units. The total sales of two-wheelers came in higher by 9% YoY at 6,47,271 units while the sale of commercial vehicles came in higher by 6% YoY at 96,308 units.

Two-wheelers saw an 8% YoY rise in domestic sales and a 10% rise in exports at 4,05,290 units and 2,41,981 units, respectively. Commercial vehicles saw a 6% YoY rise in domestic sales and exports at 68,880 units and 27,428 units, respectively.

Shares of the company have risen over 42% since the beginning of the year. The stock has gained over 106% in the last one year.
