As many as 46 stocks hit 52-week highs, while 53 shares traded at their 52-week lows on Monday, December 30, as the broader markets remained mildly positive.

As of 12:05 pm, benchmark NIFTY was up 75.3 points, or 0.32%, at 23,888.7, while BSE SENSE traded 297.21 points, or 0.38%, higher, at 78,996.28.

The volatility index, also known as the India VIX, was up 3.32% at 13.68. Among sectoral indices, the NIFTY Bank was the biggest gainer, with gains of 1%, while the NIFTY Media was the top loser, down 0.9%.

Shares of Bajaj Holdings and Investment Ltd, the Bajaj Group’s holding company, rose as much as 3.9% on Monday to hit their 52-week high of ₹11,750 apiece on the NSE. The stock has gained a cumulative 8% in the past five sessions as well and is up over 50% in the past one year.

The stock has seen an upswing since it announced late in November that it had picked up ₹29 crore worth of shares in three companies -- Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), Mphasis Ltd and Bharti Airtel Ltd.

Bajaj Holdings and Investment operates as an investment company. It holds strategic stakes of 33.43% in Bajaj Auto Ltd, 39.29% in Bajaj Finserv Ltd and 51% in Maharashtra Scooters Ltd (MSL).

Triveni Engineering and Industries (52-week high: ₹536)

Shares of Triveni Engineering and Industries Ltd gained over 7% on Monday to hit their 52-week high of ₹536 apiece on the NSE, but soon erased all its gains to trade over 9% lower amid profit booking. The stock has jumped over 10% in the past five sessions and 23% in the past one month. In the past one year, the stock has gained more than 43%.

Alkyl Amines Chemicals (52-week low: ₹1,735)

Shares of Alkyl Amines Chemicals Ltd dropped over 5% to a fresh 52-week low of ₹1,735 apiece on the NSE after the company reported an accident at one of its plants on Saturday that killed an employee. The company said that a residue tank at its derivatives plant in Pune ruptured, resulting in serious burn injuries to the attending officer. It also said that there could be a temporary disruption in the operations of the affected plant. The stock is down 9% in the past one month and over 33% in the past year.

Relaxo Footwears (52-week low: ₹616)

Shares of popular footwear brand Relaxo Footwears Ltd dropped nearly 1% to hit their 52-week low of ₹616 apiece. The share price is down almost 9% in the past one month after falling close to 11% in the preceding one month. The decline in share price was triggered due to the company’s weak financials. For the second quarter of FY 2024-25 ended September 2024, Relaxo said that its net profit decreased 16.9% to ₹36.7 crore on 5% fall in revenue from operations to ₹679.4 crore compared to the year-ago period.
