The demerger of ITC's hotel business came into effect on January 1 itself.
“Further to our letter dated 11th January, 2025, we write to advise that ITC Hotels Limited (ITCHL) has informed us today that ITCHL has received approval from the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited for listing and trading of its equity shares effective 29th January, 2025,” the Kolkata-based entity said in a regulatory filing.
The demerger of ITC’s hotel business, first announced in July 2023, came into effect on January 1, 2025.
The diversified-conglomerate had set January 6, 2025 as the record date for the demerged entity. Therefore, people who held stock in the former as of January 3, received 1 share of ITC Hotel for every 10 shares of ITC they held (1:10 ratio).
Based in Kolkata, ITC started off as a tobacco company. Today, it spans various segments, including hotels, packaging, agri-business, IT and FMCG. Now, it has demerged its hotel vertical.
Incorporated in 1974, ITC Hotels has over 140 hotels to date across 90-plus locations.
ITC has a total market cap of ₹5.50 lakh crore as of January 27, 2025, on the NSE.
