Zee Entertainment net profit rises 22% to ₹144 crore, income down 14%

Media conglomerate Zee Entertainment Enterprises posted a 21.67% increase in its consolidated net profit to ₹143.7 crore in the latest April-June quarter of the financial year 2025-26.

The company had posted a post-tax profit of ₹118.1 crore a year back.

The media firm's total income declined 13.94% to ₹1,849.8 crore in the June quarter of FY26, compared to ₹2,149.5 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year.

The EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) slid 12% to ₹239 crore as against ₹271 crore in the corresponding period of FY25. Margin stood at 13.1% vs 12.7% a year back.

"Domestic advertising revenue declined by 19% YoY for the quarter due to extended sports calendar, and slowdown in FMCG spending. Domestic Advertising Environment continues to be soft, Healthy monsoon and festive pick-up augur well for near future," Zee said in an exchange filing.

The increase in subscription revenue from digital platform was offset by a slide in linear subscription revenue because of a fall in PayTV subscribers.

Shares of Zee Entertainment settled 6.23% lower at ₹133 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Its market capitalisation stands at ₹12,774.91 crore.

The company said that the Zee network had an all-India TV network share of 16.8% in Q1 FY26, reflecting an increase of 40 basis points (bps) year-on-year (YoY).

ZEE5 posted a 30% YoY revenue growth. 17 shows and movies were released on the platform during the quarter, including 5 originals.

"Zee Music Company added 4.4 Mn subscribers during quarter on back of new age catalogue," the company said, adding that it released 53% of songs in Hindi and Punjabi languages, 11% of songs in Marathi, 13% in Tamil, 9% in Bengali, 4% in Telugu and 10% in other languages.
