Torrent Power’s board of directors announced its April to June quarter results for the financial year 2026-27, where the company recorded a 12% decline in its consolidated net profit due to elevated electrical energy costs in the period.

NSE filings showed that Torrent Power’s consolidated net profits declined 12% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹639 crore in the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27, in comparison to ₹731 crore in the same period a year earlier.

On a sequential basis, the company’s net profits doubled to its June quarter levels, from ₹318.20 crore in the fourth quarter of FY26.

The company’s revenue from core operations advanced around 3% to ₹8,124 crore in the June quarter, from ₹7,906 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, as per the exchange filing.

Torrent Power’s increase in electrical energy costs, in turn, fuelled the company’s overall expenses, which weighed down the financial performance in the Q1 results.

The exchange data showed that electrical energy costs increased 19% YoY to ₹4,674 crore in the June quarter, compared to ₹3,920 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year.

Margin growth

Torrent Power’s operational-level earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) recorded a nearly 4% growth to ₹1,538 crore in the April to June quarter results, from ₹1,483 crore in the same period a year earlier.

The company’s EBITDA margins expanded 18 basis points to 18.93% in the first quarter results, in comparison to 18.75% in the same period last year.

Torrent Power share performance

Torrent Power shares have delivered more than 200% returns to their investors in the last five years, over 108% gains in the last three years, and more than 8% returns in the past one-year period, according to NSE data.

On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, the company shares were up 5% in 2026 and around 2% returns in the last one-year period. The exchange data also showed that the company’s stock has lost 3% in the last five market sessions.

Shares of Torrent Power surged to their 52-week high of ₹1,824.10 on April 24, 2026, while the 52-week low was at ₹1,188 on October 6, 2025. The company’s market capitalisation (m-cap) was at ₹70,264 crore as of the trading session on Monday, August 3, 2026.
