The joint venture was created after the merger of the media business of Reliance Industries and the India business of global media giant Walt Disney.

Its revenue from operations for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, rose 10.1% to ₹6,806 crore as against ₹6,179 crore in the year-ago period, despite a weak advertisement environment. The jump was driven by strong growth in subscription revenue and digital entertainment advertisement revenue.

JioStar also reported a decline in operational performance in Q2 as its operating profit, also known as earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA), slipped 14% to ₹1,502 crore from ₹1,738 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Its operating profit margin, also known as EBITDA margin, contracted 600 basis points (bps) to 22.1% from 28.1% in the corresponding period last year.

JioHotstar averaged around 440 million monthly active users (MAUs) during the quarter, marking a 10% growth annually.

The quarter marked the relaunch and rebranding of JioStar’s digital destination as ‘JioHotstar’ in the international markets of Singapore, the UK and Canada.

The company in a statement said that in Q2, mobile phone plan users were given streaming content (CTV) access, which brought incremental viewers to CTV.

The entertainment watch time on JioHotstar grew more than 15% YoY, driven by strong performance across Hindi and regional markets.

The quarter also showcased the strength of JioStar’s sports portfolio, led by international cricket (England-India), Wimbledon, the US Open, and the ongoing Premier League season.

“TV Entertainment continued to dominate the market with the roll-out of new shows across the spectrum of JioStar’s Hindi and regional channels,” the company said.

JioStar also reported a 15% YoY growth in digital entertainment watch time, driven by Network GECs and original content.

In the investors’ presentation, the company said that its digital entertainment advertising revenue also recorded strong growth, supported by higher monetisation on connected TVs (CTVs). Subscription revenue grew across both digital platforms and linear television.

The oil-to-telecom conglomerate’s flagship company, Reliance Industries, posted a 41% year-on-year (YoY) growth in consolidated net profits in the second quarter of FY27, with key support from the strong increase in revenues from the Oil to Chemicals (O2C) segment in the period.

On Friday, shares of Reliance Industries closed at ₹1,164.90 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, falling 0.21%. As of October 30, the Mukesh Ambani-led company has a market capitalisation of ₹15.76 lakh crore.
