Jio Platforms (JPL), the Reliance Group’s telecom major, posted a 14% year-on-year (YoY) rise in its consolidated net profit in the July to September quarter of the financial year 2026-27, with key support from the increase in monthly ARPU, healthy margin growth and revenue gains in the period.
The latest NSE filings showed that Jio Platforms’ consolidated net profit (attributable to owners) surged around 14% to ₹8,389 crore in the second quarter of FY27, in comparison to ₹7,379 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
The revenue from core operations (less GST recovered in the period) advanced 11.4% YoY to ₹40,475 crore in the period under review, from ₹36,332 crore in the same quarter of the previous year, as per the financial statements.
JPL’s operating profit or earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) improved 16.6% YoY to ₹21,879 crore in the September quarter, from ₹18,757 crore in the same period a year earlier.
As the company announced its Q2 earnings after market hours on Friday, October 30, Jio Platforms shares will be in the focus of investors next week, on Monday, November 2, 2026.
The healthy overall revenue gains combined with operating leverage contributed to a 250 basis point increase in the company’s EBITDA margins to 54.1% in Q2 FY27, in comparison to 51.6% in Q2 FY26, as per the official filings.
“EBITDA growth offset by higher finance costs due to 5G asset capitalisation in March 2026,” the company said.
The profit margins also expanded 40 basis points to 20.7% in the quarter under review, in comparison to 20.3% in the same period a year earlier.
Jio Platforms’ average revenue per user (ARPU) increased to ₹218.8 in the September quarter, in comparison to ₹215.60 per user levels in the first quarter of FY27. ARPU is a financial metric used in the telecom industry to calculate the revenue generated from individual customers in a particular period.
“ARPU increased further to ₹218.8 with promotional schemes for fixed broadband customers offsetting better subscriber mix and increased usage,” the company said in its official statement.
On the subscriber front, Jio’s 5G subscriber base increased to 300 million users as of September 2026, up 66 million over the last 12 months. Total Fixed Broadband subscribers as of September 2026 stood at 30.0 million, with 7.3 million additions over the last 12 months.
“Monthly churn was stable at 1.6% with net subscriber addition of 9.1 million during the quarter,” as per the official statement.
NSE data showed that Jio Platforms has delivered 27.9% returns, including the listing gains, to IPO-level investors since the company was listed on the benchmark exchanges on Wednesday, October 28.
Shares of the company were listed on the National Stock Exchange at ₹1,358 per share, marking a mega premium in comparison to its issue price at the upper band of ₹1,119 apiece.
Jio Platforms shares ended 0.68% higher at ₹1,431.30 apiece ahead of the company’s Q2 results announcement, in comparison to ₹1,421.60 apiece at the previous equity market close, as per the exchange data.
The company’s market capitalisation (m-cap) was at over ₹13.18 lakh crore as of the stock market close on Friday, October 30, 2026.
