In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the company had logged a profit of ₹3,469 crore, according to a regulatory filing.

However, the Isha Ambani-led firm’s revenue from operations advanced 5.8% YoY to ₹80,220 crore during the quarter under review, compared with ₹75,836 crore in the second quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year (Q2 FY26).

“The business performance was impacted by the shift in the festive calendar to Q3,” Reliance Retail Ventures (RRVL) said.

At an operational level, its EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation), before a one-time impairment cost, stood at ₹6,228 crore in the September quarter of FY27, registering an 8.6% YoY drop from ₹6,816 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Its EBITDA margin contracted by 120 basis points (bps) YoY to 7.8% for the reporting quarter, as against 9% in Q2 of FY26.

The margin moderated due to a planned investment phase in Digital Commerce, input cost inflation absorbed for customers, and the festive shift to Q3, the company further stated.

The business registered a 7% YoY growth in transactions in a quarter, even with the major festival shift to Q3, indicating strong customer engagement and continued growth, RRVL added.

During the quarter, the company opened 303 stores, marking a net reduction of 222 stores after accounting for the closure of unproductive stores.

Its total store count stood at 19,947, with an area of 77.5 million sq.ft, which declined by 0.4% YoY.

Segment-wise performance

The grocery segment delivered broad-based growth, while absorbing part of input cost inflation. It recorded Like-for-Like (LFL) growth of 3% YoY. It stated that it strengthened regional engagement through festive-led in-store experiences across Jagannath Yatra, Ganesh Chaturthi and Janmashtami.

It added that its margin recovery will come from space productivity, optimised assortment, a focused vendor base and joint business planning with brands. Its Business-to-Business (B2B) revenue grew 10% YoY, supported by higher transaction volumes and average bill value, with beverages, dairy, frozen & bakery and staples leading the growth.

During the quarter, JioMart saw 42% YoY revenue growth, bolstered by higher average order values and a 24% increase in units per order. “Free delivery encouraged customers to build larger baskets, contributing to higher average order values,” it added.

The business continued to scale quick delivery in Consumer Electronics while strengthening monetisation of its marketplace and seller services. It further stated that dark-store productivity has remained its key focus, with performance tracked by cohort to drive higher order density and reduce cost per order. The share of Digital Commerce in business-to-client (B2C) grocery revenue increased by 270 basis points YoY.

The consumer electronics business delivered growth led by improved product availability, competitive pricing, and targeted promotions, with LFL growth of 8% YoY. Its omnichannel integration expanded across tier two and tier three markets, and its distribution business saw its revenue surge 20% YoY, supported by mobiles and laptops.
During the quarter, the fashion & lifestyle segment delivered steady revenue growth even with the major festival shift to Q3, and saw LFL growth of 3% YoY. Its apparel and footwear stores held sales without the full-price festive weeks, it stated.

Its own brands sustained growth momentum, led by fresh womenswear collections and a sharper focus on evolving customer preferences, with its contribution increasing by 710 bps YoY. Its digital commerce share of apparel and footwear revenue increased by 100 bps YoY.

What Isha Ambani said

Commenting on the earnings, Isha M. Ambani, Executive Director, Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, said: “Our customers’ trust and continued engagement across our stores and digital platforms remain central to our growth. We are building a future-ready retail business by combining our extensive physical network with digital convenience, technology, and a deep understanding of Indian consumers. The new model with fast-growing Digital Commerce and B2B channels is working and funded by the profits of offline business.”

She added that the company, with continued investments in sustainable, profitable growth, is “well positioned to serve customers across India with quality, value, and choice this festive season”.
