Kansai Nerolac Q1 results: Paint maker’s net profit rises 5% to ₹232 crore, margins drop on raw material cost hike

Kansai Nerolac Paints’ board of directors on Monday, August 3, announced the company’s April to June quarter results for the financial year 2026-27, as the firm recorded a 5% rise in quarterly profits while margins remained a concern amid higher raw material costs in the market.

NSE filings showed that Kansai Nerolac Paints’ consolidated net profits recorded around 5% growth to ₹232 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, in comparison to ₹221 crore in the same period a year earlier.

On a sequential basis, the company’s net profit surged 21% YoY to its June quarter levels, from ₹1,953.71 crore in the fourth quarter of FY26.

The company filings also showed that the raw material cost advanced 29% to ₹1,516.48 crore in the June quarter, from ₹1,176 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

The consolidated statements also showed that Kansai Nerolac’s revenue from core operations increased 9.8% YoY to ₹2,374 crore in the June quarter of FY27, compared to ₹2,162 crore in the same period a year earlier.

Shares of Kansai Nerolac Paints closed 3.7% higher at ₹204.18 apiece after Monday’s trading session, compared to ₹196.74 apiece at the previous stock market close last week, as per NSE data.

The firm announced its Q1 earnings report after the market operating hours on August 3.

Margin decline

At an operational level, Kansai Nerolac Paints’ earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 8.2% YoY to ₹328 crore in the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27, from ₹303 crore in the same period a year earlier.

The company’s EBITDA margins contracted 19 basis points to 13.93% in the June quarter of the current fiscal year, compared to 14.02% in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Kansai Nerolac share performance

Kansai Nerolac Paints shares have lost 52% of their value in the last five years, 36% in the last three years, and 18.6% in the past one-year period, according to NSE data.

So far in the calendar year 2026, the company’s stock has lost 15% and was down 4% in the last one-month period. The exchange data also showed that the company's shares were trading 0.1% lower over the last five sessions.

Shares of Kansai Nerolac surged to their 52-week high of ₹264 on December 24, 2025, while the 52-week low was at ₹157.91 on March 23, 2026. The paint maker’s market capitalisation (m-cap) was at ₹16,461 crore as of the stock market close on Monday, August 3, 2026.
