IndiGo Q3 net profit declines 18.3% to ₹2,448.8 crore, revenue up 13.6%

Low-cost carrier IndiGo operator InterGlobe Aviation reported an 18.32% decline in its consolidated net profit to ₹2,448.8 crore in the three-month period ended December 2023, compared to ₹2,998.1 crore in the year-ago period.

Revenue from operations rose 13.6% to ₹22,110.7 crore in the third quarter of the financial year 2024-2, against ₹19,452.1 crore a year back.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) grew 0.7% to ₹5,178.6 crore in the quarter under review as compared to ₹5,143.6 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal. EBITDA margin was at 23.4% versus 26% in Q3 FY24.

The airline said that passengers increased 12.7% year-on-year (YoY) to 31.1 million in the quarter ended December 31. Unit passenger revenue (PRASK) climbed by 0.3% to ₹4.72, according to an exchange filing.

Commenting on earnings, Pieter Elbers, CEO of InterGlobe Aviation, said, "We delivered a strong third quarter of financial year 2025, both operationally and financially. We reported a total income of ₹230 billion, reflecting a growth of 15% and profit excluding the impact of currency movement of ₹38.5 billion. Including currency impact, we reported a profit of ₹24.5 billion highlighting effective execution of our clear and well-defined strategy. These results were driven by robust demand in the market and our ability to cater to that demand supported by lower fuel prices."

He added, "We touched new milestones as we operated a peak of 2,200 daily flights and served a record 31.1 million passengers during the quarter. We will continue the growth path to offer our customers with options to conveniently fly to the destination of their choice."

Total income for Q3 FY25 was ₹22,992.8 crore, reflecting an increase of 14.6% over the same period last year. For the reporting quarter, IndiGo's passenger ticket revenues were ₹192,678 crore, up 12.3% YoY and ancillary revenues were ₹2,153.1 crore, a growth of 22.3% YoY.

As of December 31, 2024, the company's total expenses climbed 19.9% to ₹20,465.7 crore. It included a fuel cost of ₹6,422.6 crore, which is down 6.1% from the December 2023 quarter.

The aircraft operator has a fleet of 437 aircraft including 45 A320 CEOs (19 damp leases and 6 secondary leases), 199 A320 NEOs, 128 A321 NEOs, 48 ATRs, 3 A321 freighters, 12 B737 (damp lease) and 2 B777 (damp lease). This marks a net increase of 27 passenger aircraft during the quarter.

Shares of InterGlobe Aviation settled 0.65% higher at ₹4,161.80 per unit. The results were announced post-market hours.
