GAIL Q2 results: Net profit slumps 17% YoY to ₹2,217 crore, revenue rises over 6%

GAIL Q2 results: GAIL (India) Ltd on Friday, October 31, reported the second quarter results for the 2025-26 financial year (Q2FY26), posting a 17.02% year-on-year (YoY) decline in its standalone profit after tax (PAT) at ₹2,217.24 crore.

In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, it had clocked a profit of ₹2,671.93 crore, the company said in a regulatory filing.

During the quarter under review, the state-owned gas utility firm witnessed a 6.38% YoY increase in its revenue from operations to ₹35,031.24 crore, compared to ₹32,930.72 crore in the September quarter of FY25 (Q2FY25).

Its natural gas transmission volume stood at 123.59 million standard cubic meters per day (mmscmd) in the second quarter of FY26, while its gas marketing volume was at 105.49 mmscmd.

The company’s light hydrocarbon cut (LHC) and polymer sales were at 223 thousand metric tonnes (tmt) and 209 tmt, respectively, during the September quarter of FY26, as against 198 tmt and 177 tmt, in Q1 FY26.

The firm sold 386,000 tonnes of petrochemicals in April-September as compared to 845,000 tonnes in the 2024-25 fiscal year.

For the half-year period (April-September), net profit fell 24% to ₹4,103.56 crore.

According to GAIL, natural gas, which is used to generate power, produce fertiliser, turned into CNG to run automobiles or used in kitchens for cooking, sold in H1 of the current fiscal year was 105.47mmscmd, up from 98.02 mmscmd a year back.

It transported 122 mmscmd of gas through its pipeline network in H1, down from 127 mmscmd in the 2024-25 fiscal year.

The company incurred a capex of approximately ₹1,662 crore during the current quarter, mainly on pipelines, petrochemicals, etc., taking cumulative capex up to ₹4,838 crore in H1 FY26.

GAIL share performance

Shares of GAIL closed 0.49% lower at ₹182.20 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday. However, the results were announced after the market closed.

The stock has gained nearly 1% over the past five days and above 3% over the month. It has, however, declined about 4% in the last six months. On a year-to-date basis, it has lost approximately 5%.
