GAIL India Q1 results: Net profit jumps 240% QoQ to ₹4,292 crore on strong margin growth; revenue rises 12%

GAIL India’s board of directors on Friday, July 30, announced the company’s April to June quarter results for the financial year 2026-27, where the natural gas transmission and marketing company recorded a 240% sequential growth due to high natural gas prices and strong margin improvement.

NSE filings showed that GAIL India’s net profits surged 240% QoQ to ₹4,292.33 crore in the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27, in comparison to ₹1,262.18 crore in the fourth quarter of the previous financial year.

On a year-on-year (YoY) basis, the company’s standalone net profit gained 127% to its June quarter levels, from ₹1,886.34 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year, as per the exchange filing.

The company’s revenue from core operations advanced 12% to ₹38,981.63 crore in the June quarter of FY27, compared sequentially with ₹34,797.03 crore in the fourth quarter of FY26.

After the Q1 earnings update, GAIL India shares surged around 4% to their intraday high of ₹180.70 apiece on Friday’s market, compared to ₹173.64 apiece at the previous stock market close, as per NSE data.

Margin growth

GAIL India’s Q1 earnings report suggests that the company’s operational level earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 453% YoY to ₹6,376 crore in the June quarter, in comparison to ₹1,152 crore in the fourth quarter of FY26.

The company’s EBITDA margin expanded to 16.35% in Q1 FY27, compared to 3.31% in Q4 FY26.
