Bajaj Finance Q1 earnings: Net profit rises 27% to ₹5,986 crore, NII advances 23%

Bajaj Finance, the country's largest non-banking finance company (NBFC), on Thursday, July 30, reported a net profit (attributable to the owners of the company) of ₹5,986 crore in the first quarter of current financial year, marking an increase of 27% from ₹4,700 crore in the same period last year.

The Pune-based company's net interest income rose 23% to ₹12,571 crore in April-June period from ₹10,228 crore a year earlier.

Number of new loans booked during the quarter rose 20% to 16.13 million compared with 13.49 million in the same period last year.

Bajaj Finance's assets under management rose 24% to ₹5,46,944 crore as against ₹4,41,450 crore.

Gross non-performing assets (NPA) and net NPA as of 30 June 2026 stood at 0.96% and 0.39% respectively. As against 1.03% and 0.50% as of 30 June 2025. The provisioning coverage ratio on stage 3 assets was 60%, Bajaj Finance said in a press release.

Bajaj Finance added that loan losses and provisions for Q1FY27 was ₹1,993 crore as against ₹1,969 crore in Q1FY26. Q1FY27 includes a prudent management and macro-economic provisions of ₹296 crore. Excluding this, loan losses and provisions was ₹1,697 crore, a decline of 14% compared to the corresponding period last year.

The company's customer franchise stood at 124.43 million at the end of first quarter, compared to 106.51 million in the year-ago period, marking a growth of 17%.

Bajaj Finance said that the company enjoys the highest credit rating of AAA/Stable for its long-term debt programme from CRISIL, ICRA, CARE and India Ratings, A1+ for short-term debt programme from CRISIL.

The company has been assigned long-term issuer rating of BBB/Stable and short-term issuer rating of A-2 by S&P Global ratings. Also, the company has been assigned Baa3 Corporate Family Rating with stable outlook by Moody's Ratings, the company added.

Bajaj Finance shares ended 0.09% lower at ₹1,053.50 after its earnings announcement.
