TCS, Air New Zealand ink 5-year deal to modernise digital infrastructure with AI and Cloud

TCS will leverage AI-driven automation to optimize key airline functions, including fleet management, crew scheduling, cargo services, and digital retail experiences.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Wednesday announced a strategic five-year partnership with Air New Zealand for modernising the airline’s digital infrastructure and enhancing passenger experience through artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies.

The collaboration, formalised at TCS’ Banyan Park Campus in Mumbai, was marked by the presence of New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Tata Group Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Air New Zealand CEO Greg Foran, and TCS CEO K Krithivasan.

TCS will streamline Air New Zealand’s digital services across a diverse landscape of more than 600 applications, by integrating AI-driven automation and cloud technologies into critical airline functions, the IT services company said in a statement.

“This will drive innovation across cargo service, disruption management, retail offerings, maintenance systems and crew operations,” the statement read.

The collaboration also includes enhancements to Air New Zealand’s digital retail and loyalty program experiences.

TCS said it will leverage its expertise to enhance operational efficiency in key areas such as fleet management, crew scheduling, and ground services.

“This collaboration with TCS will help us set new industry benchmarks by leveraging AI and automation to improve efficiency and customer engagement,” said Greg Foran, CEO of Air New Zealand.

TCS CEO K Krithivasan said, “We are excited to partner with Air New Zealand in their journey to become a future-ready airline, harnessing the power of AI and cloud technologies to deliver exceptional value to their customers,” said.
