At Swiggy’s current scale of over 2 million daily orders, the hike could generate an additional ₹60 lakh every day.

Food delivery company Swiggy has raised its platform fee to ₹15 per order, the steepest increase since the charge was introduced last year, as it seeks to cash in on festive-season demand and narrow widening losses.

The Bengaluru-based firm’s latest hike marks the third change in as many weeks. Swiggy briefly raised the platform fee to ₹14 on August 15 before settling back at ₹12.

With order volumes climbing again, the fee has now been increased to ₹15.

Zomato has also raised its platform fee to ₹12 during the festive season.

At Swiggy’s current scale of more than 2 million orders a day, the higher charge could generate as much as ₹3 crore daily, compared with about ₹2.4 crore at the previous ₹12 level, according to a Moneycontrol report.

Platform fees, charged by both Swiggy and rival Zomato alongside delivery charges, GST and restaurant commissions, are not fixed and often vary across cities and peak demand days.

The fee, which was introduced in April 2023 at just ₹2, has largely remained above 10 rupees since both companies tested higher rates during last year’s New Year’s Eve rush.

The latest hike comes at a time when Swiggy is trying to narrow its losses.

The company reported a nearly 96% year-on-year jump in net loss to ₹1197 crore for the April-June quarter, largely due to heavy investments in its quick-commerce unit Instamart.

In the previous quarter (Q4 FY25), the Bengaluru-based firm posted a net loss of ₹1,081 crore.

However, the food and grocery delivery major recorded a 53.9% jump in its revenue from operations to ₹4,961 crore during the June quarter against ₹3,222 crore in Q1 FY25.

Swiggy's adjusted EBITDA loss for the reporting quarter was at ₹813 crore, up 134% from ₹348 crore posted last year. In the previous quarter, the adjusted EBITDA loss was at ₹732 crore.
