IndiGo, Akasa Air, Air India Express to start Noida International Airport operations from June 15; check details

In a statement, the Noida airport operator, Yamuna International Airport Pvt. Ltd disclosed that India’s largest airline, IndiGo, will be the operating the first flight out of the airport in Jewar, followed by Akasa Air and Air India Express.

From June 15, the Noida International Airport will carry out passenger, airline, and cargo operations in the National Capital Region (NCR) and the North India region.

According to the official announcement, the airport is set to connect the greater Delhi area and Western Uttar Pradesh with other cities in India and the world.

When will international operations begin?

A PTI report citing the Noida International Airport’s nodal officer for the UP government, Shailendra Bhatia, said that the international airport operations are expected to begin soon after the terminal executes domestic and cargo service operations.

The official also said that the international airport operations are expected to get finalised around Diwali this year, as both domestic and cargo services get streamlined.

“Thereafter, international flights are also expected to get finalised around Diwali this year, and by that time, domestic flights and cargo services would get streamlined,” Shailendra Bhatia told the news agency.

Noida Airport – here’s what you need to know

The Noida International Airport, or the Jewar airport, which has been developed under a Public-Private Partnership model, is owned by Zurich Airport International AG, in partnership with the state government of Uttar Pradesh and the central government.

According to the official announcement, the Noida International Airport will initially have a passenger handling capacity of 12 million passengers per annum in the first phase, with scalability up to 70 million passengers per year upon full development of the complex.

The first phase of the Noida International Airport, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been developed for a sum of ₹11,200 crore.

The airport is equipped with modern terminal infrastructure for the efficient operations of airline services to ensure multimodal connectivity.

Officials also told the news agency PTI that the launch of commercial operations at the Noida airport is expected to significantly boost regional connectivity and support economic growth, trade, tourism and investment in the broader region.

The Noida International Airport successfully received its final green light from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation earlier this year, in March, after which the first phase was inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security approved the Airport in April 2026, ahead of finalising the date for the commercial operations declaration last week on Friday, May 1, 2026.
