The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted the Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) to the new airline FLY91 on Wednesday.

The AOC is an authorisation granted by DGCA to the operator to allow it to use aircraft for commercial air transport operations. FLY91 had recently completed test flights to secure AOC.

Just Udo Aviation Private Limited, operating under the brand name FLY91, was co-founded by former Kingfisher Airlines senior executive Manoj Chako. It received the Ministry of Civil Aviation's approval to start the airline last April.

Presently, the Goa-based regional carrier, which aims to enhance connectivity across Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns in India, has two ATR-72 and will increase its fleet by September.

Taking to Twitter, the airline said, "The wait is finally over! 4 yrs of hard work & dedication by FLY91 team has paid off. We are proud to have received air operating certificate from @DGCAIndia. We thank Hon'ble Minister @JM_Scindia; @MoCA_GoI & DGCA for believing in our vision & supporting us through this journey."
