Over ₹177 crore lost on account of ATM/credit card, internet banking frauds
As much as ₹177 crore was lost on account of credit, debit card and internet banking frauds in the 2023-24 fiscal, Parliament was informed on Monday.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said the amount of loss due to cyber fraud has increased from ₹69.68 crore in FY23 to ₹177.05 crore in FY24.

UPI transactions jump 36% to ₹60 lakh crore in June quarter
UPI transactions in the first three months of the current fiscal have grown over 36% to ₹60 lakh crore, Parliament was informed on Monday.
As per the details of UPI transactions shared by Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in the Lok Sabha, 4,122 crore UPI transactions worth ₹60 lakh crore took place between April and June in 2024-25.

Public sector banks' NPAs on Mudra loans fall to 3.4 pc in 2023-24: Sitharaman
Public sector banks' non-performing assets associated with the Mudra loan category have declined to 3.4% in the 2023-24 fiscal, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday.
This marks an improvement from 4.77% in 2020-21, 4.89% in 2019-20, and 3.76% in 2018-19, she said in response to a query in the Lok Sabha during the Question Hour.

The government on Monday said there is no proposal under consideration for merger of public sector general insurance companies.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said ₹17,450 crore was infused during 2019-20 to 2021-22 in three PSU general insurance companies namely Oriental Insurance, National Insurance and United India Insurance to focus on their growth.

India's services sector growth eases slightly in July; rising costs, robust demand push up inflation
India's services sector growth recorded another month of robust expansion in July, albeit at a slightly slower pace than in June, largely supported by robust demand conditions and investment in technology, a monthly survey said on Monday.
The seasonally adjusted HSBC India Services Business Activity Index was at 60.3 in July, down only fractionally from 60.5 in June.
In the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) parlance, a print above 50 means expansion, while a score below 50 denotes contraction.

BCCL targets ₹40,000 crore topline by FY30
Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India, is eyeing a topline of ₹40,000 crore by FY30, backed by increased volume and diversification.
The miner plans to boost its production capacity from the current 41 million tonnes per year to over 100 million tonnes, with a capital expenditure of ₹3,000 crore by FY30, officials said.
"In 2023-24, we produced 41.1 million tonnes of raw coal, and in the current fiscal year, the target is to produce 45 million tonnes," Samiran Dutta, chairman and managing director of BCCL, said on Sunday. "With our expansion plans, we aim to reach 100 million tonnes by 2029-30."

PM Modi hails record gas production
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed the record gas production in the country and said self-reliance in the energy sector is very important in achieving the resolve of a developed India.
His remarks came in response to a post by Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stating that the country has achieved a new record in the field of gas production.
The gas production in 2020-21 was 28.7 BCM and increased to 36.43 BCM in 2023-24.
The data shared by the Union Minister projected that the gas production in 2026 will be 45.3 BCM.
In a post on X, Modi said, "Many congratulations to the people of the country for this achievement! Our self-reliance in the field of energy is very important in achieving the resolve of a developed India."

ShareChat raises ₹134 crore from Singapore-based EDBI; lays off 5% staff
Home-grown social media firm Mohalla Tech, which owns ShareChat platform, on Sunday said it has raised ₹134 crore, or USD 16 million, through debt bonds from Singapore-based investment firm EDBI.
With this fresh fundraise the company has expanded its ongoing convertible debentures round to USD 65 million.
"ShareChat expands its convertible debentures round to USD 65 million, as Singapore-based EDBI joins the round," the company said in a statement.
