May 7 bank holiday: Banks closed in THESE cities tomorrow for Lok Sabha elections phase 3 voting

Bank holidays in May 2024: Schools, colleges and several government offices will remain closed in the constituencies where the voting will take place tomorrow. Private offices have been asked by the government to allow their employees to take a paid leave on the voting day.

Banks, including public and private, will remain closed in select-cities tomorrow (May 7) on account of the third phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024. The voting is scheduled to be held in 95 parliamentary segments, which are based across 12 states and union territories.

However, the official holiday calendar shared by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) does not confirm that the banks will remain closed in all the 95 constituencies where the voting is scheduled to take place.

As per the holiday calendar list of the central bank, the commercial lenders will remain shut in the following cities on May 7:

  • Ahmedabad, the state capital of Gujarat
  • Bhopal, the provincial capital of Madhya Pradesh
  • Panaji, the capital of coastal state Goa
  • Raipur, the capital of central Indian state Chhattisgarh

Meanwhile, schools, colleges and several government offices will remain closed in the constituencies where the voting will take place tomorrow. Private offices have been asked by the government to grant a paid leave to their employees on the voting day.

  • Gujarat: Kachchh, Banaskantha, Patan, Mahesana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad East, Ahmedabad West, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Anand, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Chhota Udaipur, Bharuch, Bardoli, Navsari, Valsad

  • Uttar Pradesh: Sambhal, Hathras, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etah, Budaun, Aonla, Bareilly

-Maharashtra: Baramati, Raigad, Dharashiv, Latur, Solapur, Madha, Sangli, Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Hatkanangle

  • Bihar: Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Araria, Madhepura, Khagaria

  • Madhya Pradesh: Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha, Bhopal, Rajgarh, Betul

  • West Bengal: Maldaha Uttar, Maldaha Dakshin, Jangipur, Murshidabad

  • Assam: Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Gauhati

  • Karnataka: Chikkodi, Belgaum, Bagalkot, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bidar, Koppal, Bellary, Haveri, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Davangere, Shimoga

  • Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu

  • Goa: North Goa, South Goa

So far, two phases of Lok Sabha elections have been completed, with 102 constituencies voting in the first round on April 19, followed by another 89 parliamentary segments going to polls on April 26. After the third phase of voting on May 7, the fourth round will be held on May 13, fifth on May 20, sixth on May 26 and the final round of elections on June 1. The Election Commission of India has scheduled the counting of votes on June 4.
