Adani Green building world’s largest clean energy park 5 times the size of Paris; know key highlights

Adani Green Energy (AGEL) is building the world's largest renewable energy plant of 30 gigawatt (GW) in Gujarat, which will be five times the size of Paris and almost as large as Mumbai city. To understand the scale of the project, the energy output from the plant could power entire nations such as Switzerland, Chile and Belgium.

The project is being constructed on a staggering 538 square kilometre (sq km) of barren land in Khavda village in Gujarat.

So far, Adani Green has operationalised a cumulative capacity of 1 GW of solar energy in the 30 GW Khavda renewable energy park. The project is expected to be completed in the next five years, the company said on its website.

"AGEL delivered 1,000 MW in less than 12 months of commencing work at Khavda. This involved installing approximately 2.4 million solar modules. The accelerated progress underscores AGEL's commitment to India's goal of achieving 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030," it added.

Adani renewable energy plant: Key highlights

The plant will be equipped with cutting-edge technologies as follows:

• India's largest onshore wind turbine generator of 5.2 MW capacity
• The plant will use bifacial solar PV modules that generate energy from both sides
• Horizontal single-axis tracker systems that track the sun to collect more energy will be used

The company said it will deploy waterless cleaning robots for the entire solar capacity to cope up with dust accumulation on panels, increase the energy output, and help conserve water in the dry Kutch region.

Shares of Adani Green Energy on Thursday closed at ₹1,851, up 0.18%, on the NSE, after recording a high of ₹1,869 intraday.
