SUMMARY
Indian software engineer Soham Parekh is being accused of scamming multiple US start-ups by working at several companies simultaneously without disclosure.
Soham Parekh's resume lists work experiences at start-ups such as DynamoAI, Union.ai, Synthesia, and Alan AI, along with a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and an undergraduate degree from the University of Mumbai.
Entrepreneur Suhail Doshi, co-founder and former CEO of Mixpanel, has accused an Indian software engineer, Soham Parekh, of scamming multiple US-based start-ups by working at several companies simultaneously without disclosure.
In a post on social media platform X, Doshi issued a public warning stating, “PSA: there’s a guy named Soham Parekh (in India) who works at 3-4 startups at the same time. He’s been preying on YC companies and more. Beware.”
Doshi said he had fired Parekh within his first week of employment after realising he was “lying and scamming people”.
He added, “I tried to talk sense into this guy, explain the impact, and give him a chance to turn a new leaf because sometimes that’s what a person needs. But it clearly didn’t work.”
Doshi also shared a screenshot of Parekh’s resume, calling it “probably 90% fake”.
The resume lists work experiences at start-ups such as DynamoAI, Union.ai, Synthesia, and Alan AI, along with a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and an undergraduate degree from the University of Mumbai.
When asked by a user why moonlighting was wrong if Parekh delivered on time, Doshi replied, “Gets nothing done. Made up constant lies. Corroborated by 6+ other companies. The tweet will surface 10+ more – you’ll see.”
Doshi also alleged that Parekh lied about his location.
“We thought we were hiring someone in the US. Even sent a laptop to a US address. Got it back! Allegedly it was sent to his ‘sister’,” he said.
His post prompted similar accounts from other founders, including those from Lindy, Fleet AI, and Antimetal, who said Parekh had appeared impressive in interviews but later turned out to be juggling multiple roles across companies without disclosure.
Nicolai Ouporov, co-founder and CEO of Fleet AI, alleged that Parekh has been working at “more than 4 startups at any given time”.
"I was THIS close to hiring him. The craziest part is he actually crushed the interview," said Justin Harvey, co-founder of AIVideo. "Can confirm. This guy wasted our time for a month. did great in interviews. but he's a liar," said another startup founder named Adish Jain.
Another X user named Michelle Lim wrote, "We just signed him up for our work trial next week. Saw this tweet. Cancelled work trial. Thank you for sharing!"
When asked why employers kept hiring him if he was scamming them, Doshi said, “Obviously they do [check his work]. How else do you think he keeps getting fired?”
At least five start-ups have come forward with allegations against Parekh so far.
