This year, some states have declared a Diwali bank holiday on October 31, while others have announced a bank holiday on November 1. In some states, banks are closed on both days.

Diwali 2024: Check the state-wise list of bank holidays

  • October 31 (Thursday): Banks will be closed in Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Kerala, Puducherry, Telangana, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh for Diwali/Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary/Kali Puja/Naraka Chaturdashi.
  • November 1 (Friday): Banks will be closed in Karnataka, Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Manipur, and Sikkim on the occasion of Deepawali, the Kut Festival, and Kannada Rajyotsava.
  • November 2 (Saturday): On account of Diwali (Bali Pratipada)/Laxmi Puja (Deepawali)/Balipadyami/Vikram Samvat New Year Day/Govardhan Pooja, banks will be closed in Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.

All banks will be closed on November 3 (Sunday).

November 2024: Bank holidays

  • November 1 (Friday): Diwali, Naraka Chaturdashi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birthday anniversary and Kali Puja.
  • November 2 (Saturday): Diwali (Bali Pratipada), Laxmi Puja (Deepawali), Balipadyami, Govardhan Pooja, Vikram Samvat New Year Day.
  • November 3: Sunday
  • November 7 (Thursday): Chhath Puja.
  • November 9: Second Saturday
  • November 10: Sunday
  • November 8 (Thursday): Chhath Puja and Wangala festival
  • November 12 (Tuesday): Egaas-Bagwaal will be celebrated in Uttarakhand.
  • November 15 (Friday): Guru Nanak Jayanti, Rahas Purnima and Karthika Purnima
  • November 17: Sunday
  • November 18 (Monday): Karnataka will mark Kanakadasa Jayanti on this date.
  • November 23: Fourth Saturday
  • November 24: Sunday

While bank branches will be closed, internet, UPI and digital banking services will be available to customers.
