An ITR intimation is the Income Tax Department's notification of whether the information you have submitted is in line with their data. It is sent under Section 143(1) and informs you directly if your return is accepted, if you are entitled to a refund, or if there's any further tax to pay.

The intimation is typically sent via email from donotreply@incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in or noreply@cpc.gov.in . The ITR intimation is also available on your income tax e-filing account.

  6. ITR filing 2025 for salaried: 4 things salaried individuals shouldn’t miss

    1. The most common is ignoring income beyond salary, such as bank interest, rental income, or capital gains. These omissions can create mismatches with AIS and lead to questions from the department.

    2. Another issue is choosing a tax regime without proper calculation; the old and new systems impact your liability very differently, and a hasty choice can cost money.

    3. Deductions also need careful attention—HRA, home loan interest, and insurance premiums should be backed with documentation.

    4. Equally important is checking that TDS reported by the employer matches your Form 26AS.

  7. ITR filing due date extension query Live: Will the deadline be extended again?

It seems the Income Tax Department may not extend the ITR due date for AY 2025-26 again. The CBDT had already extended the due date in May. This time, it has not yet responded to the growing demand from tax professionals to extend the ITR and tax audit due dates.

  8. ITR filing due date 2025 query Live: Can I switch from new to old regime now?

Yes, taxpayers having income other than Business or profession can switch between old tax regime or new tax regime every year while filing return of income within the due date as per section 139(1) of the Act.

However, taxpayers having income from Business and profession can opt for old tax regime only after filing Form 10-IEA within the due date u/s 139(1). They can also switch back to the new tax regime only once after filing Form 10-IEA again with the Re-enter option. (Source: Income Tax Department)

  9. ITR filing due date 2025: Salaried employees can't opt out of new regime after deadline. File now

Salaried employees won't be able to switch to the old tax regime from the new tax regime, if they file their returns after the due date, which is September 15, 2025.

As per Income Tax rules, an individual/HUF without business/profession do not need to file any form to opt for the old regime. They can switch to the old regime in the ITR itself. But such ITR must be filed within the due date under Section 139(1).

  10. ITR filing deadline 2025 Live: Why you can't avoid e-verification after filing returns?

After filing, you must verify your ITR within 30 days. The Income Tax department treats unverified returns as not submitted. Taxpayers can e-verify using Aadhaar OTP, Electronic Verification Code (EVC), Net Banking and by mailing a signed ITR-V copy to the Income Tax department.
