GST rate cut 2025: Full list of items now under 18% tax slab

If you have been planning to buy a new TV or upgrade your car, the timing could not be better. In its 56th meeting, the GST Council has delivered a much-awaited tax relief.

The council approved a major overhaul of the Goods and Services Tax structure, bringing down the tax rate on a wide range of essential items bringing cheers to the middle class just ahead of festival season.

From air conditioners, TVs, and dishwashers to motorcycles, small cars, cement, and even ambulances, the move aims to make everyday life more affordable and boost consumer spending.

Here’s the full list of items that will now attract 18%

⦁ Air Conditioner, televisions over 32 inches, dishwashing machines, monitors and projectors will now attract 18% GST from 28%.

⦁ GST on small cars, motor cycles less than 350 cc, motor vehicles for transport of goods has been reduced from 28% to 18%.

⦁ GST will be reduced from 28 to 18 per cent on buses trucks and ambulances.

⦁ 3-wheelers GST rate has been reduced from from 28% to 18%.

⦁ Cement will cost less with the tax rate coming down from 28 per cent to 18 per cent.

⦁ Petrol, LPG and CNG vehicles of less than 1,200 cc and not more than 4,000 mm length and diesel vehicles of up to 1,500 cc and 4,000 mm length will move to 18 per cent rate from the current 28 per cent.

⦁ Motorcycles up to 350 cc, consumer electronics like ACs, dishwashers, and TVs too would be taxed at a lower GST of 18 per cent as against 28 per cent currently.

⦁ There will be an uniform 18 per cent GST rate on all auto parts.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the new rates for all products, except pan masala, gutkha, cigarettes, chewing tobacco products like zarda, unmanufactured tobacco and bidi, will be effective September 22.
