6 Indian mutual funds tracking the Nasdaq 100 index ahead of SpaceX entry

Elon Musk's SpaceX is set to be included in the Nasdaq 100 index after its much-awaited initial public offering (IPO). The index provider has reportedly made changes to ease the entry of SpaceX shares into the index, which currently comprises some of the world's largest and most popular tech companies, including Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon, and Meta.

The inclusion of SpaceX in the Nasdaq 100 would mean that the index funds tracking it would have to buy the company's shares.

For investors who want to add SpaceX shares to their portfolio, Nasdaq 100 index funds provide an indirect route, alongside exposure to other major tech stocks. While there are several such funds available to investors in the US, there are no such options available in India at present.

Indian funds tracking the Nasdaq index are currently not accepting fresh investments as they have already hit regulatory limits.

What are these funds?

There are as many as six Indian mutual fund schemes that track the Nasdaq 100 TRI. Three of these schemes have daily AUMs worth over ₹1000 crore.

  1. Aditya Birla Sun Life US Equity Passive FOF

Launched on November 1, 2021, the scheme tracks the Nasdaq 100 TRI and is managed by Dhaval Joshi. The scheme's direct plan has delivered an annualised return of 20.89% since launch.

  1. Axis NASDAQ 100 US Specific Equity Passive FOF

This scheme was launched on November 1, 2022 and is managed by Krishnaa N. The scheme's direct plan has delivered an annualised return of 36.77% since launch.

  1. Invesco India - Invesco EQQQ NASDAQ-100 ETF FOF

Launched on April 21, 2022, the scheme is managed by Anhishek Bahinipati. The scheme's direct plan has delivered an annualised return of 27.53% since launch.

  1. Kotak US Specific Equity Passive FOF

Launched on February 2, 2021, the scheme is managed by Arjun Khanna. The scheme's direct plan has delivered an annualised return of 22.51% since launch.

  1. Motilal Oswal Nasdaq 100 FOF

Launched on November 29, 2018, the scheme is managed by Swapnil P Mayekar. The scheme's direct plan has delivered an annualised return of 30.07% since launch.

  1. Navi Nasdaq100 US Specific Equity Passive FOF

Launched on March 23, 2022, the scheme is managed by Ashutosh Shirwaikar. The scheme's direct plan has delivered an annualised return of 25.52% since launch.
