Daily expenses in Greece vary as per individual choices, but here are the average prices for you to have a rough idea for your budget:
For visiting Greece, you must hold a valid Indian passport and have international travel insurance. Further, you must also have a clean criminal record with no visa violations.
Except for diplomatic passport holders, who can opt for a visa-on-arrival for 90 days, Indian citizens must hold a visa before entering Greece, as it does not offer visa-on-arrival services for Indian nationals.
A Type C Schengen visa, also known as a short-stay visa or Uniform Schengen Visa (USV), allows non-EU individuals to enter and stay in the Schengen area for a maximum of 90 days (3 months) within a 180-day period (6 months). It is the most common type of Schengen visa and is used for travel, family visits, and business trips. The visa can be for a single entry, double entry, or multiple entries.
While applying for a Schengen visa, you have to select the relevant entry option and provide valid reasons for needing such a visa, along with an itinerary. For instance, if you are going to Greece for business purposes and need to enter Greece several times in a few months, you will need to select ‘multiple entries’ on the visa application and provide the reason for your plans for the stay.
The purposes of travel with a short stay visa include tourism, business, visiting family and friends, cultural and educational, sports, medical reasons, studies, airport transit, visa for Seaman, etc, according to the Global Visa Center.
For a standard short-stay visa (Type C), Indian nationals need to pay €90 (approximately ₹8,460) for adults and €45 (approximately ₹4,230) for children between the ages of 6 to 12. The visa fee was increased from €80 to €90 in June 2024.
