November brings key financial updates and deadlines that could impact your wallet. From SBI Card’s revised fees on education payments, wallet loads, and cash transactions, to UIDAI allowing major Aadhaar updates online, and deadlines for NPS-to-UPS switches, and pension submissions.

SBI Card charges from November 2025

From November 1, 2025, SBI Card will revise fees on select transactions. Education payments via third-party apps like CRED or MobiKwik will attract a 1% fee. Direct payments to schools or POS machines remain free. Wallet loads above ₹1,000 will also carry a 1% charge.
Other charges: Cash deposits at SBI counters up to ₹49,999 will cost ₹250 per transaction. Cheque payments are ₹200, dishonored payments 2% (minimum ₹500), and cash advances via ATMs 2.5% (minimum ₹500). Card replacements range ₹100–₹250; Aurum cards cost ₹1,500. Late payments can go up to ₹1,300, plus ₹100 for consecutive missed payments.

Bank nomination rules from November 2025

  1. Simultaneous nomination: You can nominate up to four people at once, specifying each person’s share. Total must equal 100% for clear distribution.

  2. Successive nomination: For deposits, lockers, or safe custody items, up to four nominees can be appointed successively. The next nominee becomes active only after the previous one passes away.
  3. Multiple nominations: Combine simultaneous and successive nominations for flexible asset management.

  4. Nomination for deposit accounts: Choose either simultaneous or successive nominations for bank accounts based on your preference.

  5. Nomination for safe custody & lockers: Only successive nominations are allowed for lockers or items in safe custody, ensuring clear order of entitlement.

NPS-UPS switch

The government has extended the deadline to switch from NPS to UPS to November 30, 2025. This applies to eligible employees, past retirees, and spouses of deceased retirees, giving them more time to opt in.

Aadhaar updates go online

From November 2025, UIDAI will allow major Aadhaar updates, like name, address, date of birth, and mobile number via the mobile app. Physical visits are only required for biometric updates like fingerprints or iris scans, as per a report in Financial Express.

Digital Life Certificate submission

Pensioners must submit their Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) by November 30, 2025. Failure to do so will result in a temporary suspension of pension payments until the certificate is submitted.

New GST registration scheme from November 2025

The government will launch a revamped Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration scheme from November 1, 2025, under the broader GST 2.0 reforms. The Simplified GST Registration Scheme will provide automatic registration within three working days for two categories of applicants: those identified by the system through data analysis, and those who self-assess their monthly output tax liability as not exceeding ₹2.5 lakh.

New toll penalty structure

A significant change to the toll penalty structure for vehicles without a valid, functional FASTag will become effective on November 15, 2025 (not November.

  • Under this revised rule, drivers who choose to pay their toll using cash will be charged a penalty fee that is twice (2x) the standard toll amount.

-Meanwhile, drivers who opt for approved digital methods, such as UPI, will face a lesser penalty, being charged 1.25 times (1.25x) the standard toll fee. This new structure is designed to encourage compliance and universal adoption of the FASTag system strongly.
