The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently released the bank holiday calendar for the upcoming year. Banks across many states in India will remain closed for at least 10 days in January 2026, including on New Year’s Day, Makar Sankranti and Republic Day.

Physical branches of banks will be closed on these holidays, while online banking, UPI, ATM withdrawals and NEFT/RTGS/IMPS will operate normally.

Banks across India are closed today as well, for Christmas, to observe the birth of Jesus Christ. Stock markets and the Multi Commodity Exchange are also closed for trading for the Christmas holiday.
