PNB offers credit-enabled UPI transactions on PNB Kiwi credit card

The country's leading public-run lender Punjab National Bank has announced a strategic tie-up with Kiwi, which is a major credit on UPI interface. As part of the collaboration, the bank launched PNB Kiwi credit card on the Rupay network, allowing full-digital onboarding, seamless UPI integration, together with exciting cashbacks on online transactions ranging between 0.5-1.5%.

The move is in a bid to offer and integrate credit facilities on the day-to-day UPI transactions.

Kiwi offering credit on UPI, is the first app in the country offering an NPCI-certified payment solution.

On the deal, PNB Executive Director Bibhu Prasad Mahapatra elaborated on the strategic partnership, saying, “India is witnessing a rapid shift towards digital payments, led by the growth of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). With over 10,000 branches—60% in semi-urban and rural regions—we are well-positioned to extend formal credit to underserved segments. As RuPay credit cards gain momentum, our partnership with Kiwi marks a key step in enhancing financial flexibility and supporting everyday spending needs.”

Meanwhile, Siddharth Mehta, Co-founder of Kiwi, added, “This partnership reflects the trust of one of the nation’s leading public sector banks in our journey to transform the way customers experience credit. Together, we aim to deliver a secure, flexible, and inclusive credit experience that strengthens access to formal credit nationwide.”

With the deal in place, customers will have a frictionless credit experience on the widely adopted Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform that has become integral to most Indians.

As per the details furnished, the new credit card shall entail no joining and annual fees. Other than that users will be able to get cashback on both online and UPI transactions.

Other banks that have collaborated with Kiwi for credit-enabled UPI

The company has also partnered with other leading lenders, including the likes of Axis Bank, Yes Bank and AU Small Finance Bank. Using the Kiwi credit card operating on the Rupak network, customers can get discounts of 1.5-2% on their daily spend.
