PNB discontinues free domestic airport lounge access for Rupay Platinum debit cards from April 1; check new rules

Punjab National Bank (PNB) has discontinued complimentary domestic airport lounge access for its RuPay Platinum debit card customers with effect from April 1, 2026. This will impact its wide range of customers who enjoy free access to the domestic lounge irrespective of their spending.

“Dear PNB RuPay Platinum debit card customers, kindly note that all complimentary lounge access facilities on PNB RuPay Platinum debit cards will be discontinued from April 1, 2026. This is for your information and necessary action,” the official PNB website says. 

Spending-based lounge access

The bank has introduced spending-based lounge access for its Rupay Select Debit Card customers, starting from April 15. Now, customers will be able to access domestic airport lounges only if they meet the minimum quarterly spending threshold of ₹5,000 on point-of-sale or e-commerce transactions.

“Important Update: “Spend-Based Lounge Access for PNB RuPay Select Debit Cards.”

“From 15-04-2026, all Domestic Airport Lounge Access on PNB RuPay Select Debit Cards (First 6 digit 652512) will be on a spend-based model. A minimum spend of ₹5000 in POS/E-com is required in a quarter to enjoy complimentary Domestic Airport Lounge access in the next quarter,” the bank said in a notice on its website. 

This means that if a cardholder spends ₹5,000 between January 1 and March 31, they will be eligible for lounge access between April 15 and July 14.

These changes are only applicable to domestic airport lounges on PNB RuPay Select Debit Cards. PNB customers must check and be aware of the updated terms and conditions to plan their trips and expenses accordingly.
