PAN card correction online: How to change name, address, mobile number on Protean & UTIITSL portals

Permanent Account Number (PAN) is crucial for Income Tax filing. Suppose your personal details, such as your name, date of birth (DoB), signature, photo, father's name, gender, Aadhaar, mobile number, address or email ID, are incorrect or have changed. In that case, rectifying and updating your PAN card is important.

Corrections to PAN Cards can be made online on the NSDL e-Gov portal or UTI Infrastructure Technology And Services Limited's (UTIITSL's) website.

If you had applied for a PAN card on the NSDL e-Gov website, the details can be updated on the same portal. Likewise, if you got your PAN card through UTIITSL, it can be updated on their website.

How to update or correct PAN details on NSDL e-Gov portal?

• Visit the NSDL e-Gov website- www.protean-tinpan.com
• Select 'PAN' under the services tab
• Under the 'Change/Correction in PAN Data', click on 'Apply'
• Fill up the PAN application
• Enter the 'Captcha Code' and click on submit
• Click on 'Continue with PAN Application Form'
• Make the payment
• Submit e-KYC and e-Sign

Steps to update PAN on UTIITSL website?

• Visit the UTIITSL website- www.pan.utiitsl.com/PAN.
• Click 'Change/Correction in PAN Card'
• Choose the mode of submission of documents and enter your PAN number
• After clicking on 'Submit', a reference number will be created
• Select personal details that need to be corrected
• After uploading the documents, click on 'Submit' and make payment

What is PAN and e-PAN?

A PAN is a unique ten-digit alphanumeric data issued by the Income Tax Department to individuals, firms, etc.

e-PAN is a digitally signed PAN card issued in electronic form. It is a valid proof of PAN allotment.
