Digital life certificate or Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric-enabled digital service for pensioners

How it works:

⦁ The system uses your Aadhaar number for fingerprint or iris scan authentication.

⦁ Once verified, a digital life certificate is created and stored online in a secure repository.

⦁ Pension disbursing agencies (banks, etc.) can view and download your certificate from the Jeevan Pramaan website.

Steps to get your digital life certificate:

⦁ Register online or visit a Centre

⦁ Download the Jeevan Pramaan app on your PC/mobile/tablet

⦁ Or visit the nearest Jeevan Pramaan Centre (banks, CSCs, govt offices)

⦁ Enter your details: Aadhaar number, Pension Payment Order (PPO, bank name, account number, and mobile number

⦁ Biometric authentication: Use your fingerprint or iris scan to verify identity.

⦁ Get certificate & ID: After successful authentication, you will get an SMS confirmation with your Jeevan Pramaan ID.

⦁ Download your digital certificate: Go to jeevanpramaan.gov.in and download your certificate using the Jeevan Pramaan ID.

⦁ For pension disbursing agencies: They can either access the certificate online or opt for electronic delivery of Life Certificates directly from the Jeevan Pramaan platform.

Last date of submission of life certificate

The submission window for the annual Life Certificate depends on the pensioner's age.

⦁ Super Senior Citizens (aged 80 and above) can submit their certificate starting October 1 each year.

Pensioners below the age of 80 must wait until November 1 to submit their certificate.

For all pensioners, regardless of age, the final submission deadline is November 30. This staggered approach, allowing those aged 80 and above to submit earlier, was first introduced by the Central government in 2019 to ease the process for older citizens.
