Key highlights

Registration will now be available as a value-added service under speed post for both documents and parcels. This means that customers can have addressee-specific secured delivery designed specially for enhanced trust and speed.

“A nominal charge of ₹5/- per Speed Post item (Document/Parcel), plus applicable GST, will be levied for the value-added service of ‘Registration’, wherein the item will be delivered exclusively to the addressee or a person duly authorised by the addressee,” the release said.

A value-added service of One-Time Password (OTP) Delivery would also be available at a charge of ₹5 per Speed Post item (Document/Parcel), plus applicable GST. Under this, the parcel will be handed over to the addressee only after successful confirmation through OTP shared with the delivery staff.

Moreover, a 10% discount would be available for students, and a special discount of 5% for new bulk customers.

“These initiatives are part of India Post’s ongoing journey of evolving into a more secure, transparent, and technology-enabled service provider. By introducing sustainable innovations and trust-enhancing features, Speed Post continues to adapt to the changing needs of customers while reaffirming its position as the nation’s most reliable and affordable delivery partner,” the release said.

Registered Post - Speed Post Integration

The Department of Posts in August announced that Registered Post’s sorting infrastructure and processing are being integrated with Speed Post from September.

The registered post facility is now available through Speed Post as ‘add-ons’.

“In order to streamline mail operations, improve delivery timelines, and optimize logistics resources, the Department of Posts has rationalized its sorting infrastructure and unified the processing of both Registered and Speed Post items. This integration will enhance backend efficiency, reduce transit delays, and offer better connectivity across the network,” the ministry said in a release on August 6. Read more about it here.
