The deadline to freely upload documents on the myAadhaar portal has been extended. The Aadhaar-issuing authority, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), has set the deadline for free document upload as June 14, 2026.

"UIDAI extends free online document upload facility till 14th June 2026; to benefit millions of Aadhaar Number Holders. This free service is available only on #myAadhaar portal. UIDAI has been encouraging people to keep documents updated in their Aadhaar," UIDAI recently said in a post on X.

Aadhaar is a 12-digit individual identification number that serves as identity proof for Indian residents. The Aadhaar number is based on biometrics and demographic data of individuals. It is one of the most important ID proofs used all across the country.

Deadline for free document upload

Why should you update Aadhaar?

The UIDAI urges citizens to update their recent proof of identity and address if they haven’t done so in the last 10 years. This is to ensure that individuals receive better service and efficient authentication.
