The year 2025 witnessed multiple changes in the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) rules for the benefit of salaried employees. One such change was about the simplification of transfer claims by making the transfer certificate (Annexure K) available for download in the member portal. What is the transfer certificate in Annexure K?

The transfer certificate in Annexure K is an important document that contains the comprehensive record of a member's Provident Fund account. It includes the following information:

  • Provident Fund balance with interest

  • Complete service history for EPS benefit computation and

  • Employment details.

How does transfer claim work?

When salaried employees change their jobs, they are required to transfer their provident fund accumulations from the previous PF account to the latest PF account. This helps consolidate the PF accumulations and the pension service in one account. To apply for transfer, they are required to file a Transfer Claim in Form 13 online by logging into their Member Portal.

These days, transfer claims also get auto-initiated on receipt of the first month's contribution in the latest employment. This facility works when all details of a member, including KYC, Aadhaar etc., are updated (read more about it here).

Auto-initiated claims get processed without the need for filing a separate Form 13 by the member.

Further, on successful processing of Form 13, the Transfer Certificate in Annexure K is generated by the Transferor (Source) Office, where the member's previous establishment/account is serviced and forwarded to the Transferee (Destination) Office where the member's present establishment/account is serviced for crediting the PF accumulations as well as the Pension Service.

What has changed in 2025?

Employees can now download the transfer certificate in Annexure K from the EPFO member portal. This move increases transparency while ensuring greater convenience to PF members, according to the provident fund body.

" With a view to enhance transparency and ensure greater convenience for PF members, the Transfer Certificate in Annexure K has now been made available for download in Member Portal for convenience. The Annexure K can be accessed by the member through the following pathway: Member Portal → Online Services → Track Claim Status → Download Annexure K," the EPFO said in a circular dated September 18, 2025.
