The average time taken for settling online employees provident fund (EPF) claims by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is only eight days, according to a written reply to a query by the Central Government in Rajya Sabha on January 29, 2026.

Moreover, employees with fully compliant e-KYC EPF accounts do not need employers' approval for filing their online transfer claims directly with EPFO.

As of January 23, 2026 of FY 2025-26, the EPFO processed over 8.53 crore claims. In FY 2024-25, EPFO had settled nearly 7.7 crore claims.

The number of member profile corrections requests handled by EPFO in FY 2205-26 till January 23, 2026 was 27,33,551.

She further said that the following software interventions have been made in the existing applications for ease of living and ease of doing business.

Simplified joint declaration: A Simplified Joint Declaration process was launched in January 2025 to enable EPFO members to self-update or self-correct their profile in a more efficient and hassle-free manner subject to certain system-driven validations.
Direct filing of online claims: EPF members with fully compliant e-KYC EPF accounts can now file their Online Transfer Claims directly with EPFO without requiring approval of employer.
Centralized Pension Payments System (CPPS) Module: It was fully implemented in December 2024, enabling pension payment through branch of any scheduled bank across the country.
Mandatory Allotment of New UANs via Face Authentication Technology (FAT) in August 2025: This allows employees to generate and activate their UAN independent of employer using Aadhaar-based face authentication through the UMANG Application enabling secure member identity authentication.
Member Passbook Lite: It has been deployed at member interface, enabling easy access to recent transactions.
Re-engineered Returns Module: It was introduced in September 2025 enabling fully validated and error free returns and error free member ledger updation.
Re-Engineered User Management Module: It was introduced in October 2025 for secure and access control of workflow management.
Registration portal for PMVBRY: It went live on August 15, 2025. Employers can register and upload UANs of new hires to claim benefits under Part A (first- time employees) & B (employer incentives) providing ease of doing business and transparent benefit delivery.
