Banks in India will remain closed across various states for over 100 days in 2026. Along with state-wise regional holidays, all banks in the country are shut on Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays.

Key bank holidays in 2026 include Republic Day, Holi, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti.
Bank holidays 2026: As we enter 2026, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a comprehensive list of bank holidays for the year. The central bank has released the calendar for 2026 bank holidays, providing details for over 100 days when banks will remain shut during the year. India will observe a set of bank holidays.
Key holidays include Republic Day, Holi, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti. Other notable holidays include Good Friday, Baisakhi, Muharram, Dussehra, Durga Puja and Diwali.
While physical bank branches will be shut on these holidays, other operations like UPI payments, ATM withdrawals, NEFT, net banking and online transfers will be available for emergency situations.

Along with bank holidays, stock markets in India will remain closed for a total of 15 days in 2026, as per the National Stock Exchange of India circular. As many as 4 stock market holidays fall on weekends in 2026, when the bourses are already shut for trading.
