The two features are part of the bank’s Safe Banking initiative and are aimed at helping customers manage payment risks and avoid some common transaction problems.

You can set separate limits for UPI payments

Axis Bank’s new UPI Limit Management feature allows customers to set separate limits for Person-to-Person (P2P), domestic merchant and international merchant transactions.

The limits can be set through the Axis Mobile Banking App and will apply across all UPI apps linked to the customer’s Axis Bank account. This means customers do not have to set up separate limits on each UPI app.

For instance, if you generally use UPI for small everyday purchases, you can set a limit that reflects your usual spending. A lower limit can also reduce the amount at risk if an unauthorised or accidental high-value transaction takes place.

The feature is currently available to a limited number of customers and will be rolled out to the wider customer base soon.

Customers can find it under Quick Links then Safety Centre then UPI Module (under Control Centre). Changes to the limits require MPIN and OTP authentication, with confirmation sent through the app and SMS.

Travelling abroad? You can declare your travel plans The bank has also introduced an International Travel Declaration facility for eligible credit card customers.

Customers can inform the bank about their overseas travel plans through the app before travelling. This information can be used as an additional input when the bank assesses international card transactions for potential fraud.

This can matter when a genuine transaction is made in a country where the customer has never used the card before. Such transactions can sometimes be flagged because they look different from the customer’s normal spending pattern.

By declaring travel plans in advance, customers can provide the bank with more context and potentially reduce avoidable declines while continuing to have fraud checks in place.

The feature is available under Credit Card then Control Center then International Travel.

What the bank says

Arnika Dixit, Group Head - Cards, Payments and Wealth Management, Axis Bank, said the new features are intended to give customers more control over their payments.

“At Axis Bank, Safe Banking is about empowering customers with greater control and confidence in how they manage their finances.”

She said the UPI feature allows customers to set and manage transaction limits across different payment categories, while the travel declaration facility allows the bank to take a customer’s travel plans into account when assessing overseas transactions.

“Together, these capabilities give customers greater control over how they transact, while reinforcing safety and convenience across their payment journeys.”
