AMFI July data: SIP inflows at record high of ₹23,332 crore, equity fund inflows down 8.6%

Monthly inflows through systematic investment plans (SIPs) surged to a fresh record high of ₹23,332 crore during the month of July, as per the data released by the Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI) on Friday, August 9.

In the preceding month of June, the gross SIP inflows stood at ₹21,262 crore.

While SIP contributions have risen month-on-month, the net inflows through open-ended equity mutual funds declined to ₹37,113.39 in July. This is 8.6% lower as compared to ₹40,573 crore in June.

However, the net inflows in open-ended equity MFs have remained in the positive territory for the 41st month in a row.

Inflows in large-cap fund slumps

In the equity funds category, the inflows into large-cap funds dropped 31% to ₹670.12 crore. The inflows in small and mid-cap funds also slowed as compared to the preceding month, coming in at ₹2,109.2 and ₹1,644.2 crore, respectively.

Meanwhile, a jump in inflows was recorded in the multi-cap funds, where large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap stocks contribute 25% each. The inflow of funds in this category rose 50% to ₹7,084.61 crore.

In the fixed income category, net inflows in debt mutual funds rose from ₹1.07 lakh crore in June 2024 to ₹1.19 lakh crore in July 2024, the data showed.

The net inflows under the short-term liquid funds category stood at ₹70,060.8 crore during the month under review, and fresh investments to the tune of ₹28,738.03 crore were also recorded in the money market funds.

The net assets under management (AUM) of the mutual funds industry, at the end of July 2024, stood at ₹64.96 lakh crore, the data showed. The net AUM had crossed the milestone of ₹60 lakh crore for the first time ever in June 2024.
