8th Pay Commission not required to keep the Govt updated on its progress, says Finance Ministry

He also highlighted that the ToR allows the 8th CPC to devise its own procedure. "The Government has notified Resolution dated 03.11.2025 for constitution of the 8th Central Pay Commission including its Terms of Reference (ToR). The Resolution dated 03.11.2025 provides that the 8th Central Pay Commission will devise its own procedure."

Chaudhary made the above statements in response to the following queries by Rajya Sabha member Javed Ali Khan:

• the details of number of meetings held by Eighth Central Pay Commission (CPC);

• the details of Employees' Unions consulted so far, Union-wise;

• whether Employees' Unions have demanded to increase the number of family units from 3 to 5 including parents of the employees to calculate fitment factor for 8th CPC;

• if so, the details thereof and response of the Commission or Government thereto; and

• by when the Commission is likely to submit its report to Government for consideration and implementation?

"As per the Resolution dated 03.11.2025, the 8th Central Pay Commission will make its recommendations within 18 months of the date of its constitution," Chaudhary said.

8th CPC visit schedule

The 8th CPC has a dedicated portal for all updates. The pay panel is currently holding stakeholder discussions across cities.

The upcoming schedule of the 8th CPC's visits are below:

Stakeholders planning to meet the members of the pay commission should seek an appointment on or before the set deadlines (see above table). They will also need to provide the "Unique Memo ID" which is generated upon submission of the memorandum on the Commission's website.

The stakeholders who can meet the pay panel include organisations/institutions of central government as well as associations/unions who are desirous of interacting with the Commission.
