The Government of India has invited applications for engagement of consultants in the Eighth Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) on a contractual basis.

As per the official communication dated April 10, 2026, interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the prescribed link available on the Commission’s website.

Application process

Eligible candidates can apply only through the online link provided in the official notification and on the Commission’s website. No physical or hard copy applications will be accepted.

Job description / scope of work

Consultants will be engaged for high-end, specialised, and time-bound assignments. The key areas of work include:

  • Analysis of salaries, pay structures, allowances, and pensions.
  • Review of existing emolument structures.

  • Collection and analysis of data from reports, databases, and surveys.

  • Legal research related to service and pay matters.

  • Coordination with Ministries and Government departments for data collection.

  • Assistance in specialised studies on HR and compensation issues.

  • Review of gratuity and bonus mechanisms.

  • Preparation of reports, data interpretation and presentations.

  • Analysis of memorandums, representations, and submissions

  • Estimation of fiscal impact.

  • Any other work related to the Commission’s mandate.

Consultants will be engaged for a fixed period to provide high-end services or handle specific, time-bound assignments. The roles may be on a full-time or part-time basis, and the engagement is temporary in nature. The Commission has outlined a detailed scope of work, which includes analysis of salaries, pay structures, allowances, pensions, legal research, data analysis, and coordination with various government departments.

Categories of Consultants

Applications are invited for three categories:
  • Senior Consultant

  • Consultant

  • Young Professional

Each category has defined age limits, experience requirements, and vacancies as specified in the notification.

Salary

Fixed monthly remuneration (depending on category and engagement type):

  • Senior Consultant: up to ₹1,80,000 (full-time)

  • Consultant: up to ₹1,20,000 (full-time)

  • Young Professional: up to ₹90,000 (full-time)

Part-time options:
  • 12 days/month: ₹90,000 / ₹60,000 / ₹45,000 (as per category)

  • 6 days/month: ₹45,000 / ₹30,000 / ₹22,500 (as per category)

No additional allowances such as DA, accommodation, medical reimbursement, or transport will be provided.

The Commission has also specified conditions related to confidentiality, working hours, leave, and termination. Consultants will be required to adhere strictly to official secrecy provisions and professional conduct guidelines during their tenure.
