SSY account continues to earn 8.2% interest

Govt keeps interest rates on small savings schemes unchanged for Q2
The government on Monday left interest rates unchanged for various small savings schemes, including PPF and NSC, for the sixth straight quarter beginning July 1, 2025.
"The rates of interest on various Small Savings Schemes for the second quarter of FY 2025-26 starting from 1st July, 2025 and ending on 30th September, 2025 shall remain unchanged from those notified for the first quarter (1st April, 2025 to 30th June, 2025) of FY 2025-26," the finance ministry said in a notification.
As per the notification, deposits under the Sukanya Samriddhi scheme will attract an interest rate of 8.2 per cent, while the rate on a three-year term deposit remains at 7.1 per cent prevailing in the current quarter. (Source: PTI)

Post Office Savings Account interest rate remains unchanged since 2011
Post Office Savings Account (POSA) interest rate has remained unchanged at 4% for 14 years, since December 1, 2011. It is likely to remain so even for the upcoming quarters. More so because POSA is used by the most vulnerable sections, including senior citizens and residents in rural areas.

The Kisan Vikas Patra interest rate has remained unchanged at 7.5% since April 1, 2023. On Monday (June 30), the Finance Ministry kept the rate unchanged.

The PPF account is currently offering 7.1% interest compounded annually. The same interest rate has been retained for the July-Septemebr quarter of FY 2025-26.

Post Office Time Deposit interest rates for July-September announced
The Ministry of Finance announced the interest rate of Post Office Time Deposit (TD), or Fixed Deposit (FD), for the July-September quarter of FY 2025-26 today (June 30, 2025). What is PPF account interest rate?
PPF interest rate remains unchanged at 7.1%. Earlier, it ws expected to be reduced. Going by the set methodology for the calculation of Public Provident Fund (PPF), a downward revision of interest rate from 7.1% to 6.5% was possible. However, the Government has decided to continue with the existing rate.

SSY account interest rate continues to remain 8.2% for July-Septemebr 2025. The Government has not chnaged the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) account interest rate for a long time. However, a cut in the SSY account interest rate for July-September quarter of FY 2025-26 was expected today.
