Silver prices on Wednesday (April 8, 2026), jumped phenomenally in India, with prices rising by as much as ₹10,000 or 3.75% per kg. The sudden and sharp gains were registered on the back of strong bullion prices overseas.

In the retail market, silver price today quoted at ₹2,77,000 per kg, while on the previous day it was priced at ₹2,67,000. Over the past ten days, silver prices have traded in the range of ₹26,200-₹27,700 per 100 gm.

Silver prices in India are determined based on international spot rates, currency exchange rates (USD/INR), and import duties.

Why silver prices soared today?

Silver prices strengthened remarkably today as the market participants perceived the 2-week US-Iran ceasefire agreement as a major de-escalation in the West Asia war.

A drag in the dollar index also supported silver prices. In early trading, the greenback retreated to its lowest in two weeks as the US-Iran ceasefire boosted risk-on sentiment in the markets.

On the MCX, silver futures for May delivery after scaling to the day's high price of ₹2,46,376 per kg, last at around 4:30 pm traded with gains of 5.9% or ₹13,698 at ₹2,45,046.

Meanwhile, US silver futures traded close to $77, with gains of around 7%.
