Factors influencing gold rate in India

Gold prices continued their southward journey as renewed tensions between the US and Iran pushed oil prices higher. Amid renewed hostilities, prices surged about 7%, with Brent crude last trading higher by 1% at $78.8 per barrel.

Higher energy prices have reignited inflationary concerns, boosting both the dollar index and the US Treasury yields.

Last, the dollar index traded with a tad cut at 100.94. Stronger dollar makes dollar-priced bullion expensive for other currency holders, weighing on demand.

On the MCX, gold futures contract for delivery in August traded weak by 0.23% or ₹334 at ₹1,43,377 per 10 gm.

Internationally, spot gold was down by 0.43% at $4,059.87, while gold August futures traded with a drag of 0.36% at $4,067.6 per ounce.

Analysts are of the view that gold prices in the near term will be influenced by macroeconomic factors, geo-political developments and investor sentiment among others.
