The GIFT NIFTY futures indicate a gap-down opening for the Indian markets on Friday amid weak global market cues. The benchmark indices continued to reel under the selling pressure of IT stocks. The 25,650 levels continued to remain a strong support zone for NIFTY50 on daily charts.

Indian equity benchmarks ended with a cut of over half a per cent on Thursday as traders avoided to take risk ahead of CPI data. Besides, hefty selling in the IT sector’s stock kept the markets lower during the day. Indices made a negative start and remained lower till the end of the session. Concerns over artificial intelligence-led disruptions weighed on market sentiments. The IT stocks are expected to remain under pressure on Friday as well, owing to a sharp sell-off in tech stocks in the US.

On the technical charts, after the initial gap-down opening on Friday, the index is expected to find support at the 50 EMA level of 25,650. Experts believe the index will remain under pressure throughout the day. However, a weekly closing above the 25,600 support level would help keep the medium bullish outlook intact.

On the options data front, the 26000 calls continued to hold the highest open interest with strong open interest addition, indicating a strong resistance for the index. On the downside, 25,800 puts hold the highest open interest, indicating a near term support levels.
