Stock market holidays in April: NSE, BSE to be closed for three days this month; check MCX holidays

Indian stock markets will remain shut for as many as three days in April 2025 on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti (April 10), Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14) and Good Friday (April 18).

Stock markets in India will remain closed for a total of three days in the month of April this year. While Thursday, April 10 is a stock market holiday on the occasion of Shri Mahavir Jayanti, markets will be closed on Monday, April 14 for Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti. Additionally, markets will be closed on Friday, April 18 for Good Friday.

Trading in derivatives, equities, currency derivatives, Security Lending and Borrowing Scheme (SLBS) stocks and interest rate derivatives will be halted on all these days.

MCX holidays in April 2025

On April 10 (Mahavir Jayanti) and April 14 (Ambedkar Jayanti), the Multi Commodity Exchange will be closed for trading for the morning session (09:00 am to 5:00 pm). Meanwhile, the MCX will be shut for both morning and evening sessions on April 18 (Good Friday).

Stock markets in India are usually closed on the weekends, except in special cases like the Union Budget. NSE and BSE are open for trading from Monday to Friday (9:15 am to 3:30 pm). MCX is also closed on the weekends. Morning sessions of the commodity market are held between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and, while its evening sessions are from 5:00 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm.
