At 9:21 AM, the S&P BSE SENSEX traded at 77,802 levels, up 111 points, or 0.13%. On the NSE, the NIFTY50 index was trading at 23,581 levels, up 25 points, or 0.10%.
Investors have lost more than ₹8 lakh crore in the previous two trading sessions amid relentless FII sell-off. As of November 13, FIIs were net sellers in Indian equities, with a sell-off worth ₹27,683 crore so far this month.
The top five gainers on the NSE were Eicher Motors, HCL Tech, Sun Pharma, Hindalco, and Tech Mahindra. The top losers were Ultratech Cement, BPCL, NTPC, BEL, and Titan.
Eicher Motors shares jumped more than 7% in today’s trading session, with a day high of ₹4,940 per share after reporting robust Q2FY25 earnings. Royal Enfield-maker's consolidated PAT surged 8% to ₹1,100 crore in the latest July-September quarter. The automaker reported a post-tax profit of ₹1,016 crore in Q2 FY24.
Swiggy shares rose more than 5% in opening minutes to an intraday high of ₹489.4 per share. However, the stock pared its early gains to trade at ₹446 apiece, down 2.14% amid profit booking. Swiggy made a decent market debut yesterday, listing at nearly 7% premium. The company's market cap also crossed ₹1 lakh crore on the day it listed its shares on the stock exchanges.
HCL Tech hits a fresh 52-week high of ₹1,897 per share in today’s session, while Wipro and Tech Mahindra are among the top gainers. IT stocks continue to trade higher amid the strong US dollar and prospects of increased tech spending in the US economy.
NIFTY Media index was among the top gainers, followed by NIFTY Pharma and PSU Bank. Meanwhile, the NIFTY Oil & Gas index traded lower.
NIFTY Midcap 100 index was trading at 54,177 levels, up 0.70%, while the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index was trading at 17,626, up 0.96%.
