Most brokerage stocks ended with decent gains on Tuesday, April 9, defying weak market sentiment. Market benchmarks, SENSEX and NIFTY, closed marginally lower due to profit booking, after surpassing record high levels during the day.

SENSEX touched historic 75,124.28 level in morning trade while NIFTY also scaled a new peak of 22,768.40. However, the market benchmarks failed to hold gains after hitting their fresh all-time highs due to profit booking amid lingering concerns over inflation and delayed rate cuts.

SENSEX closed 0.08% lower at 74,683.7 while the NIFTY settled with a loss of 0.11% at 22,641.75.
